Car to be at auction 1/20

www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1993-jaguar-xj220-2/

Auction description:

Lot 063

SOLD $340,500

Scottsdale 2020

1993 Jaguar XJ220

Chassis: SAJJEAEX8AX220618

PROVENANCE

Tim Hoiles, Colorado (acquired in 2004)

Scott Ales, Eustis, Florida (acquired in March 2014)

Current Owner (acquired in May 2014)

Assembled in March 1994, this XJ220, based on its VIN and body number, is likely the penultimate example built, according to entries in the Xclusively Jaguar XJ220 register. Finished in stunning Le Mans Blue Metallic with a Smoke Grey leather interior, it was not dispatched until February 1998. Six years later, Colorado-based enthusiast Tim Hoiles purchased this XJ220 from an international import company in 2004, after it arrived in the US from Europe with just 375 km on its odometer. Invoices dating from 2008 and 2011 document the installation of a fuel cell as well as timing belts. Parting with the car in 2013, Mr. Hoiles added less than 600 km during his tenure.

The svelte Jaguar joined the consignor’s curated collection of postwar sports cars in 2014, and is accompanied by its tools and manuals, both in their factory leather pouches, as well as original press and sales literature, and a CARFAX Vehicle History Report. Presenting beautifully both inside and out, this stunning XJ220 was loaned for a time to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, Massachusetts, for exhibition. It has also been enjoyed by the consignor on short drives, and started and exercised regularly.

This Jaguar XJ220 boasts all of the credentials of a true 1990s-era supercar, in addition to the requisite Alpine stereo head unit and CD changer, a genuine 200+ mph top speed, 0–60 sprints in under four seconds, alloy and composite construction, extremely limited production, twin turbochargers, a racing pedigree, and an undeniable presence that is the result of aerodynamic advances and bold styling themes. This uncommonly wellpreserved XJ220 showed just over 1,900 km when catalogued and is a car that deserves serious consideration by collectors seeking to complete a supercar collection, or any devotee of the Jaguar marque.

Wish it were readable but can't be sure agree first digit looks like 3 and last 7 but middle digit just not clear enough, you could ask the seller.

Car to return to auction 8/23

rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/mo23/monterey/lots/r0155-1994-jaguar-xj220/1371258

Auction description:

Monterey 17 - 19 August 2023

$550,000 - $650,000

Chassis No. SAJJEAEX8AX220618

Documents US Title

One of fewer than 300 examples produced

The world’s fastest production car of its day

Presented in its factory colors of Le Mans Blue over Smoke Grey

Showing just 2,062 km (~1,282 mi.) at time of cataloguing

Accompanied by factory tools, manuals, and assortment of original press and sales literature

Per information from the XJ220 registry, the XJ220 presented for sale here is a desirable later-series example, constructed in March 1994 and finished just as it appears today in Le Mans Blue over Smoke Grey leather livery. Though built in 1994, the car would wait nearly four years to be dispatched on 12 February 1998 to its first dealer, Grange Motors of Brentwood, Essex, United Kingdom.

Six years later in 2004, the XJ220 was imported to the United States and acquired by Colorado-based enthusiast Tim Hoiles. Hoiles would add only a few hundred miles before parting with the car in 2013. After Hoiles, the car passed through two curators and was for a time displayed at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, Massachusetts.

This XJ220 is well-equipped, being accompanied by a tool and manual set, both in their correct leather wallets, as well as an assortment of press and sales literature, clean CARFAX report, 2012 service invoice, and copy of its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate. Additionally, the consignor has treated the car to a change of the engine, transmission, brake, and clutch fluids prior to the sale.

Showing just 2,062 kilometers (~1,282 miles) at cataloguing, this extraordinary example of what many enthusiasts consider the first hypercar stands ready to welcome its next caretaker into the exclusive ranks of XJ220 ownership.
